Jesus Visits Martha And Mary

Reference:            Luke 10:38-42

Golden Verse:

"But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."  Luke 10:42
Lesson Goals:
  1. God teaches us and we need to listen to His teachings.
  2. Mary's good choice to be with Jesus
  3. Martha's work is not bad, but it should not be everything.
Lesson Notes:
  1. Martha gives a good example of the person attending to the domestic needs of the saints, poor, etc.  But Mary's main concern is the word of God.
  2. Martha cared about feeding Jesus, but Mary cared more about letting Jesus feed her.
  3. Martha represents our worldly life, while Mary represents our heavenly life in the presence of God.
  4. Martha's work relates to our human needs, while Mary's work relates to our spiritual needs.
  5. What Martha did was good, but what Mary did was better.  God did not blame Martha for what she was doing but preferred Mary's choice.
