The Lord's Supper
Reference: Mark
14:12-26
Golden Verse:
"For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup,
you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes." I Corinthians 11:26
Lesson Goals:
-
A narrative description of the events of the Lord's Last Supper
-
Christ gives us His Body and Blood for our salvation.
-
The Eucharist, the Mystery of the Holy Communion, and how to get ready
for it
Lesson Notes:
-
There is only one body of Christ that was crucified on Friday; that was
the body given to the disciples during the Last Supper, and that is the
body we received in the Holy Communion.
-
During the celebration of the Eucharist, the priest says, "Take eat of
it, for this is my body which is broken for you and for many . . . Take
drink from it all of you, for this is my blood of the New Testament."
It is not the priest that sanctifies the bread and wine but Jesus Christ
Himself.
-
Repentance and confession are necessary before we participate in the Eucharist
and receive the Holy Communion.
