Jesus is Crucified on the Cross

Lesson Goals:
  1. Tell briefly the story of Jesus' crucifixion
  2. The meaning and purpose of Jesus' death on the cross is salvation.
  3. The need for Jesus' sacrifice
Lesson Notes:
  1. The Lamb of God was being sacrificed to take away the sin of the world.  Jesus was dying in our place.  He accepted the punishment we deserve (John 1: 29).
  2. He was making the one sacrifice that would forever perfect those who are sanctified (Hebrews 10:14).
  3. All we like sheep have gone astray, and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all (Isaiah 53:6).
  4. He gave it (His Body) upon the tree of the holy cross for us all.  Given for us unto salvation, remission of sins, and life everlasting to whomsoever partakes of it (The Holy Liturgy).
